Google Gifts a new $150,000 to INSAIT to Support Next-Generation AI Research

INSAIT, part of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” has received a new $150,000 gift from Google to advance research in multimodal generative AI. With this latest support, Google’s total contributions to INSAIT now exceed $6 million, underscoring its continued recognition of INSAIT as a world-class AI organization.

The funding will support doctoral researchers in multimodal large language models (LLMs) under the guidance of Prof. Luc Van Gool (INSAIT faculty). The project focuses on developing intelligent agents capable of perceiving and reasoning in real time from a first-person perspective. Egocentric video collected through smart glasses and AR/VR headsets will enable groundbreaking assistive technologies and entirely new ways for humans to collaborate with AI.
