SOFIA UNIVERSITY "ST. KLIMENT OHRIDSKI"

ANNOUNCES A COMPETITION

for admission of full-time PhD students for the academic year 2025-2026 under Art. 21, para. 7 of the Higher Education Act in implementation of the ConsuWAIS Project "Consumers Wanted AI Support", funded by the BNSF, the Ministry of Education and Science under the National Scientific Program "Excellence and People for the Development of European Science" (VIHREN-2024).

From 09.05.2025 to 09.06.2025, candidates submit the following documents to the Rector of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski":

1. Application form

2. Declaration in a standard form

3. Curriculum vitae (European format)

4. Copy of the diploma for completed educational and qualification degree "Master" and its supplement. Graduates with a degree structure of education shall submit copies of the diplomas for completed educational and qualification degrees "Bachelor" and "Master" and the annexes/supplements.

4.1. In case the issuance of the diploma for higher education is forthcoming, the candidate submits an academic transcript-original (or a notarized copy), which reflects the average grade from the semester exams with the workload of classes in the individual disciplines and the success from the state exams;

4.2. For candidates who have graduated from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", to whom the issuance of the diploma for higher education is forthcoming, are allowed to present a certificate issued by the Students Department at the Faculty. The Certificate should reflect the average grade from the semester exams and the success from the state exams;

4.3. Persons who have acquired abroad a Master's degree, recognized under the legislation of the respective country, may apply for a doctoral degree after having passed the procedure for recognition of education by Sofia University.

5. Document certifying the paid fee for participation in the candidate-doctoral competition (BGN 50 for the first exam in the specialty and BGN 50 for the exam in a foreign language) - payment is made only by bank transfer, by any commercial bank:

The mandatory information that the bank document must contain is: full name of the candidate, personal identification number, city of residence, faculty to which the doctoral program is announced and the candidate-doctoral fee.

6. Additional requirements:

6.1. Motivation letter (in English, 1 page max)

6.2. Written short concept for the doctoral thesis (in English, 2 pages max, literature does not count towards page limit)

6.3. Contact details of two referees (for recommendations)

6.4. In case they are available: other diplomas, certificates and acquired qualifications, Diploma for scientific degree, results of language exams/certificates
