What is a “slow hackathon”?

Unlike traditional hackathons, which typically last 24–48 hours, the “slow hackathon” (Slow Hack) provides more time for in-depth work – in this case, two months. This allows participants to thoroughly analyze issues, develop sustainable solutions, and benefit from training sessions and expert support.

What do you gain?

  • Free access to specialized training programs and a certificate for each successfully completed course.
  • Access to leading technological tools for media monitoring and data analysis.
  • Collaboration with top experts, professionals, and organizations from the public, private, and NGO sectors.
  • Development of innovative solutions to tackle disinformation and ensure high-quality information in Bulgaria.
  • Prizes, internships, publication opportunities, and participation in international forums.

Who can apply?

  • Student status – Participants must be current students (bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD) enrolled in Bulgarian or foreign universities, with strong Bulgarian language skills.
  • Interest in the topic – Motivation to contribute to a high-quality information environment in Bulgaria and readiness to develop practical solutions.
  • Teamwork skills – Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with other participants.
  • Commitment – Participation in the opening and closing events, as well as in mentoring and expert meetings (online or in person).

How to participate?

Students who wish to join DisInfoHack 2025 can register individually or as part of a team by February 28, 2025. Selected participants will be notified via email by March 6, 2025, and will receive access to online training sessions developed by teams from Sofia University, Identrics, and Contipso within the CoDE Academy framework.

Registration is open until February 28, 2025, but spots are limited!
