From December 15 to 18, 2024, the fourth working meeting of the project "Extreme Droughts and Their Impact on Agriculture in Selected Continental Climates of Europe," under the multilateral scientific and technological cooperation program in the Danube region, took place at BOKU Vienna.
Project partners include Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski," the Faculty of Geology and Geography, the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), Vienna, and Comenius University, Bratislava.
The Bulgarian partner was represented by Prof. Dr. Nina Nikolova, Assistant Professor Dr. Simeon Matev, and Assistant Professor Dr. Petko Bozhkov.
The main objectives of the meeting were scientific exchange, analysis of drought-triggering factors and crop yield responses, as well as discussions on the preparation of joint publications and planning for upcoming tasks.
During the meeting, past and forthcoming scientific activities were discussed. The results of the partners' work on the current tasks of WP4 (Regional Climate Characteristics and Drought Analysis) and WP5 (Evaluation of Drought Impacts Using Indicators) were presented by S. Thaler, J. Eitzinger, J. Slavkova, M. Melo, and N. Nikolova.
