In an exciting opportunity for current students and alumni of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA), the Female Entrepreneurship Lab will host Catherine Adelmann, founder of the innovative solar company Fosera. While still a student at the University of Ulm in Germany, Catherine founded Fosera - an innovative company focused on developing and producing solar systems designed for rural electrification in Africa. Over its 13 years of operation, Fosera achieved an annual turnover exceeding €7 million, providing more than 3 million people with access to clean energy. Despite its impressive impact, the company ultimately faced challenges that led to its closure, offering a unique perspective on the complexities of entrepreneurship. Catherine’s entrepreneurial spirit, however, remains undiminished. She continues to channel her passion as a coach at her university’s start-up centre, guiding students in their entrepreneurial journeys.

In her lecture, Catherine will share the story of Fosera, detailing not only the technical innovations that made renewable energy more accessible in remote regions but also the strategic efforts essential for growth. Attendees will gain insight into the entrepreneurial hurdles she faced, as well as the lessons learned from navigating the ups and downs of building a sustainable business. Her experiences will serve as a testament to the belief that even in the face of failure, valuable lessons can pave the way for future success.

The public lecture will take place on November 4th in Room 315 of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, starting at 2:00 PM. Participation is free, but registration is required. Please confirm your attendance by completing the registration form here: https://forms.office.com/e/PCwCXmdKkb.

The event is part of a series of public lectures organised by the Female Entrepreneurship Lab at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration in implementation of the Net-Zero Lab project.
