The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration is the first academic partner of the European Investment Bank in Bulgaria. The joint partnership started 3 years ago and during this period a number of managers and experts from the EIB, the European Investment Fund (EIF) and the EIB Institute visited the students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.

Last year, 4 students from the Master's programs attended the EIB Summer School in Luxembourg with the support of the EIB and the FEBA, and in December the Faculty’s team took second place in their first participation in the EIB Ethics Bowl competition.

To the students this year, Dr. Liliana Pavlova presented a lecture on "The European landscape in times of turmoil and the role of the EIB Group", emphasizing the strategic goals and challenges facing the European economy.

This year's program of guest lectures continues in the following weeks:

  • Guest lecture by Teodor Radonov - financial expert and head of the Bulgarian office of the EIB group in Bulgaria, on the topic "Business cycle and activities in Bulgaria", March 17, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., room 400.
  • Guest lecture by Atanas Kolev - Chief Advisor in the EIB's Economics Department, on the topic "Effects from the pandemic relief on private Investment by firms", March 27, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., room 420.

EIB Vice President Liliana Pavlova said about the initiative: "I am happy that with today's lecture we marked the beginning of the partnership between Sofia University and the EIB Institute. The European Investment Bank is a highly effective institution for long-term financing that supports investment projects contributing to the reduction of disparities in regional development by strengthening economic competitiveness and improving the living standards of citizens in Bulgaria. The EIB is looking for capable people from a wide range of disciplines - economic, legal and engineering. We invite Bulgarian students to explore our opportunities for internships and academic programs."

The Dean of the FEBA Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev stated at the beginning of the lecture: "The partnership of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration with the European Investment Bank is part of our efforts to develop our academic programs with the active participation of institutions and businesses. The beginning of EIB's partnership with Sofia University is both a recognition and an incentive to continue being a leading educational institution in the professional fields of Economics and Administration and Management in Bulgaria.
