Over 30 employees of UniCredit Bulbank, including the Chief Executive Officer Tsvetanka Mincheva, joined the first edition of the ESG Academy of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. The Academy is the first national certification program for training of specialists in sustainable management.

The certificates for successful graduation of the Academy were presented on March 1 by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, and Ch. Assist. Prof. Marina Stefanova, PhD, Director of the master's program “Responsible and Sustainable Governance” at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and Head of the ESG Academy.

The ESG Academy includes modules on sustainable finance, green, circular and social economy, ESG reporting and more. The academy is part of the specially developed holistic program “ESG Learning Journey” for ESG training and development of bank employees, part of the ESG strategy. ESG Learning Journey also includes a partnership with the first master's program “Responsible and Sustainable Governance” of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.

“I am very glad that the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and UniCredit Bulbank mark the graduation of the first ESG academy. We launched a series of trainings as leaders in education and the financial sector to highlight the importance of sustainable development in the behavior of companies in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals and to promote positive change in society and the world”, said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev at the graduation ceremony.

“Our partnership in the ESG Academy aims to be an adequate partner for business and citizens in the transition to more sustainable industries. It is important for us to continue to develop new knowledge and skills in the field of sustainable management. In this way we are prepared to work with our clients and provide sustainable investments for the development of innovations in the social and low-carbon economy”, said Andrea Tonietti, Member of the Board of UniCredit Bulbank, who was a special guest at the ceremony.

The Academy for Management of Social, Environmental and Organizational Aspects of the Activities of the Organizations has been developed by the Center for Educational Services at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and the Bulgarian Association of CSR Specialists. It consists of 5 compulsory modules, each lasting 8 academic hours. To pass each module, participants must pass an exam or develop an individual project on a case or task.
