On June 11 and 12, Utilities magazine and the Center for Educational Services (CEC) of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski ”organized a joint online training on “Electricity Market Regulation and Liberalization”. 19 energy experts and managers took part in the certification course. The course was conducted through the zoom webinar platform.

Lecturers in the training were:

  • Ventsislav Markov, Head of Regulations, Prices and Economic Analysis Department at the National Electric Company EAD;
  • Ivanka Dilovska, Member of the Board of the Energy Management Institute;
  • Ilina Stefanova, EU and Public Affairs Manager at EVN AG, Austria;
  • Kaloyan Staykov, Senior Economist at the Institute of Market Economics;
  • Plamen Stefanov, Executive Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Energo-Pro Energy Services EAD;
  • Todor Matev, Retail Sales Director at CEZ Electro Bulgaria;

The lectures touched on various aspects of the electricity market and its regulations:

  • Energy policy and energy regulation
  • Principles of price regulation
  • Regulation and prospects for the public provider
  • Retail market liberalization
  • Regulatory mechanisms for achieving climate goals
  • Energy services

After each lecture, participants had the opportunity to ask questions and have a discussion on the topics.
