The European Central Bank (ECB) is currently seeking motivated students and recent graduates for a Traineeship in the Information Governance Division. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in information services and digital transformation at a major international institution.

About the Team

You will join the Information Governance Division within the Directorate General Secretariat, a team of 60 professionals dedicated to ensuring that ECB staff and European citizens can access and leverage the institution's knowledge assets. The division is currently focused on automating business processes, engaging in artificial intelligence (AI) activities, and exploring new technologies to enhance productivity and innovation. In this role, you will advise users on information management, support the streamlining of processes, and contribute to value-added knowledge management initiatives.

Your Role

As a trainee, you will:

  • Provide functional support for the ECB’s information and knowledge management systems.
  • Contribute to operational tasks related to the creation, storage, and preservation of digital and paper records.
  • Monitor information management practices and assist in the implementation of the ECB’s retention policy.
  • Participate in business analysis, requirements gathering, and testing for new system configurations.
  • Support the maintenance of internal knowledge bases and training materials.
Qualifications and Skills

Essential:

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Science, Computer Science, Archives/Records Management, Librarianship, or Business Administration. Candidates with degrees in other fields may apply if they hold or are enrolled in a relevant postgraduate qualification.
  • Awareness: Interest in the role and functioning of the ECB.
  • Technical: Proficiency in the MS Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Languages: Advanced (C1) English and intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official EU language.

Desired:

  • Working knowledge of Enterprise Content Management systems (e.g., OpenText Content Server, SharePoint) or collaboration tools (Microsoft 365, Teams).
  • Basic understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS) or digital preservation software (e.g., Preservica).
