About the Position:

Position Title: Press & Media Assistant
Hiring Agency: U.S. Embassy Sofia
Open Period: January 8, 2025 – January 29, 2025
Work Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Salary: BGN 37,935/year (gross)
Duty Location: Sofia, Bulgaria
Telework Eligible: No

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor Bulgarian press and media coverage.
  • Develop media contacts and support press/media activities on U.S.-related topics.
  • Provide verbal and written reports on media engagement to Mission leadership.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with media professionals.
  • Organize and manage events such as press conferences, interviews, and journalism seminars.

Requirements:

Experience:

  • Option 1: Minimum 2 years in a relevant field (e.g., media, PR, communications, marketing) in organizations like media outlets, NGOs, embassies, or corporations.
  • Option 2: Minimum 4 years in a similar field with at least 2 years of college/university education.

Education:

  • Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or similar.
  • Option 2: At least 2 years of higher education.

Languages:

  • Fluent English (Level 4).
  • Fluent Bulgarian (Level 4).

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of Bulgarian press, media institutions, and international communication trends.
  • Analytical and communication skills to evaluate and predict media influence.
  • Event management, digital media expertise, and familiarity with tools like MS Office, photo/video editing, and social media platforms.
