About the Position:

Position Title: Maintenance Supervisor (Assistant Residential Maintenance Supervisor)

Hiring Agency: U.S. Embassy Sofia

Open Period: January 6, 2025 – January 27, 2025

Work Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Salary: BGN 33,929/year (gross)

Duty Location: Sofia, Bulgaria

Telework Eligible: No

Security Clearance: Public Trust - Background Investigation

Appointment Type: Permanent (subject to successful completion of probationary period)

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily maintenance operations for all embassy-owned and leased properties, including equipment and residences.
  • Manage a team of 12 maintenance staff (e.g., technicians, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, gardeners, custodians).
  • Oversee logistics and ensure compliance with maintenance schedules and standards.

Requirements:

Experience:

  • Option 1:
  • 2 years in residential facilities maintenance and logistics.
  • 2 years managing and supervising staff.
  • College education in engineering, architecture, manufacturing, or administration.
  • Option 2:
  • 4 years in residential facilities maintenance and logistics.
  • 2 years managing and supervising staff.
  • High school diploma.

Languages:

  • English: Level 3 (Good working knowledge).
  • Bulgarian: Level 4 (Fluent).

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with construction trades and building maintenance.
  • Knowledge of U.S. and Bulgarian building codes.
  • Computer literacy and ability to operate tools, construction equipment, and motor vehicles.
  • Valid "B" driver’s license (held for at least 5 years).
