The practice works across the energy value chain—including utilities, independent power producers, investors, and regulators—to deploy capital and optimize value across renewables, storage, clean molecules, and low-carbon infrastructure.
The Role & Key Responsibilities
The Junior Energy Consultant will support clients with practical recommendations powered by data analytics and market insight. Key activities include:
- Market & Strategy Support: Contributing to market assessments on Iberian wholesale power, business models, and emerging technologies (renewables, storage, PtX/clean molecules).
- Quantitative Analysis & Modelling: Building and maintaining datasets and basic models to evaluate market fundamentals, asset revenues, and the commercial performance of flexible resources (batteries, pumped storage, demand response).
- Transaction Support: Assisting in buy and sell-side commercial due diligence for renewable and low-carbon assets by evaluating value drivers, risks, and routes to market.
- Tenders & Auctions: Supporting project teams in structuring and pricing competitive bids for government tenders and auctions.
- Client Deliverables: Creating clear, well-structured slides, memos, and dashboards to communicate findings effectively.
Skills and Experience Required
- Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Analytics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience: Internships or up to 1 year of experience in energy, consulting, finance, data analytics, or a related area.
- Analytical Capability: Strong problem-solving skills with proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Python, R, SQL, or Power BI is considered a plus.
- Energy Market Interest: Understanding of (or strong motivation to learn) the fundamentals of South East European wholesale electricity markets, market design, and regulation. Knowledge of Romanian, Hungarian, or Greek energy markets is a strong advantage.
- Domain Awareness: An interest in the valuation of renewables, storage, routes to market, and flexible resources (batteries, DSR).
- Languages: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
