CIRRCULUM VITAE

Orlin Borisov was born on 23 September 1951 in the town of Pazardzik. He finished secondary school in Paradzik in 1969. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at Lomonosov MSU in 1977.

Prof. Orlin Borisov has been working at the Faculty of Law since 1985. He teaches International Public Law, International Contractual Law, International Protection of Human Rights and EU Law.

In 1983 he began his self-planned post graduate studies at International Law and International Relations Department and in 1985 he became Lecturer of International Public Law.

He defended his PhD thesis Legislative Function of ILO in 1986 after which he was appointed Senior Lecturer of IPL.

After his appraisal in 1989 he was appointed Principal Lecturer of International Public Law

He became Associate Professor of IPL in 1995 and in 2005 he became Professor of International Public Law.

On 30 Nov. 2001 Prof. Borisov was awarded Doctor of Laws degree by the Higher Attestation Committee (VAK) on the basis of the successful defence of his dissertation Current Problems of the Theory and Practice of International Agreements.

Presently Prof. Borisov teaches a foundation course in IPL and the optional disciplines International Contractual Law and International Protection of Human Rights to part-time and full-time students at the Faculty of Law. He also delivers lectures in EU Law, International Contractual Law and International Protection of Human Rights to International Relations students.

In connection with the courses he teaches Prof. Borisov has written and published the following monographs, course books and manuals:

  • Four monographs - Application of International Agreements (1989), International Agreements Concluded by the EU (1995), Current Problems of the Theory and Practice of International Agreements (1998), The Rights of Bulgarian Citizens (2001).
  • Three course books - International Public Law (1996), EU Law (1995) and International Protection of Human Rights (published in 2003).
  • Two reference books of terms used in International Public Law and EU Law (both published in 2002).
  • Four collections of works - on IPL, EU Law, International Contractual Law and Human Rights Protection
  • He is the coauthor of two handbooks:

- Universal International Bodies/2008г./

- Freedom of Movement in the EU /2008г./

His monograph Rights and Obligations of Minority Groups under International Law is to be published soon.

Prof. Borisov has attended a number of specialization courses in Ireland, Belgium, Holland, Germany, etc.

Since 2004 he has been in charge of the Master's Degreeе Programmes European Relations and International Organizations and Multilateral Diplomacy at the Faculty of Law at SU "St. Kliment Ohridski".

From 1995 till 1998 he was a member of the SSC on Legal Sciences with Higher Attestation Committee (VAK).

From 2003 till 2006 he was a member of the Standing Committee on Special and Legal Sciences and National Security with the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency.

Good knowledge of English and Russian (writing and verbal skills); uses French.

Married with two children.
